When Janet Brann-Hollis had an encounter with God in January during which He called on her to organise a 21-day fast for the elections, she had no idea how big the campaign would become.
The fast was launched on April 18 and on each day until election day yesterday, participants received a daily WhatsApp video message in which Brann-Hollis and Bible teacher Dr Arthur Frost led them in prayer according to the theme of the day.
“We anticipate between one to three million received the messages worldwide, and all fasted at least two to three days,” said Brann-Hollis.
“I worked with Janine and Arthur Frost and God really grew the network. Even until the last day, people were still joining the network.
“A lady came to our office and bought the Fasting for a Supernatural Life and the God Said books. She said her brother works in Brunei and he told her he was on the fast, and praying for SA.
“We had a very well-known ministry join us, which has at least 25 000 in their network,” she said.
She said many hundreds of people thanked them for starting the fasting initiative, which she said had brought the Church in SA together and taught people how to pray in unity.
We had some technical problems in the first week and when we sent the WhatsApp messages out late, people were so alarmed that they had not received their daily prayer clip. It was a blessing for us to encounter, as we knew people were really behind this initiative.
