Special report on the recent inaugural Border Mighty Men Conference by Aubrey Fraetas, a member of the organising committee
We give all Glory to God as without Him this event would never have been possible. We thank Him for the success of the very first Border Mighty Men which was held in the backyard of East London on the farm “The Cove” from September 23 to 25 with many men getting saved and having a meeting with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Border Mighty Men started with one man’s obedience to our Heavenly Father. Warren Heyns responded to a dream he was given to bring change to the Border by bringing Mighty Men to East London whose people whose people can’t always travel to distant venues — and also to bring men from afar to visit our city.
So, from this point what was needed was faith, trust and prayer and that is exactly how it started. The organising committee came together and tackled every facet of what was needed for this event to succeed. These men came as if they were called! There are specific committee members who went above and beyond for this conference. We don’t want to single them out, but they know who they are and we thank them for being faithful.

People don’t realise how much planning goes into the event. It started months earlier with preparing the ground, laying of water pipes, permits, restrictions, financing, audio-visual equipment — just to name a few.
But in response to fervent prayer The Lord provided all our needs, and we never came short. Many weekends were spent on the ground, physically working. And there were weekly meetings and intense planning.
Testing all the way
The Lord never promised it would be easy and right up to the time of the event we were tested. The week before the event East London was coming down with heavy rains and the ground was too soft for vehicles to even come in. The day before the opening night we were still erecting the stage and setting up all the audio-visuals. Testing went on right up until the event had to start.
It was a miracle from above that everything just worked, and our prayers were answered.
With trust and faith everything fell into place. Its was clear in our hearts that this conference was for Jesus! Many men found their way to the front, breaking down in tears, giving their lives to The Lord Jesus Christ. We had a entire prayer teams to just listen to men’s needs and the difficulties of life, as we all tend to suffer in silence.
We had fathers hugging their sons. repairing broken relationships. We had men who suffer from addictions being cleansed and renewed. Men left the conference renewing their vows to their wives, healing their families.

We had a committee member who had a heart attack during the opening hour, and again with fervent prayer this man was healed. Wow, Just wow! With God we have Hope and The Light that breathes new life into us. He is the Living Water and so many men were thirsty! Thank you, Heavenly Father, for providing!
Yes, this first Border Mighty Men was a success and will be remembered as the starting point for the Border. We want to thank our guest speakers Sebastian Jina, Martin Douglas, Sbusiso Nodada, Zane Meas, Afrika Mhlope, Jono Kruger, Eugene Genis and Angus Buchan, who sent a special message to us.
The speakers powerful testimonies and inspiring messages had the grounds filled with The Holy Spirit and men were on the edge of their seats. We had men — aptly named “cross walkers” — who came from Cape Town and Klerksdorp, over 1000km away, to inspire us to pick up our cross for Jesus!!
We also want to thank our committee members for all the time and effort they put into organising this conference. Thank you too to all the businesses who sponsored from funds to bins, to gas and so much more!
As we look forward to planning for next year’s conference at The Cove we want to announce our neighbours next Mighty Men conference that will be taking place at Jeffreys Bay from March 18 to 20 next year. So, save the date! You can find more information on their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/mightymeneasterncape

Finally, I want to leave you with our slogan for this conference: “God uses nobodies” — and with that in mind, I want to say Jesus IS enough.
