Mighty Man cross walker Carl Dippenaar, 35, has been missing in Cape Town since Monday (September 14, 2015) morning, said a mystified MMC Western Cape 2015 Chairman, Piperjames McGowan in an interview today.
He says Dippenaar landed in hospital in Swellendam with bruising on his right side after he was attacked by three men on the roadside on Friday, September 11, while attempting to walk with his cross from Mossel Bay to Malmesbury to attend the MMC WC.
After he was discharged from hospital he got a lift to Robertson where he joined Piperjames and his wife, Ina, who were attending a Christian festival. Dippenaar helped hand out MMC flyers in Robertson on Saturday and then travelled to Cape Town on Sunday to stay with Piperjames and Ina at their home in Plattekloof Glen.

They attended the Bikers Church on Sunday evening and early on Monday Dippenaar assisted Piperjames handing out flyers until it started to rain. When they got back to the house Dippenaar said he was going to go out to share a word with homeless people. He last saw him heading off towards the Monte Vista bridge near N1 City. He had left his cross in the garden and a few possessions, including his asthma pump, in the house.
Piperjames has checked with police, hospitals, mortuaries and shelters in his search for Dippennaar. He has recruited others, including radio stations, to assist in the search and has filed an official police missing persons report. He said he is worried and mystified by Dippenaar’s disapperance. He described Dippenaar as “a nice guy” who was due to participate in various MMC events.
Dippenaar is about 6 feet tall, sturdy, dark haired, with a tanned complexion and a protruding chin. He was wearing a brown, broad-brimmed hat adorned with shark’s teeth, porcupine quills and a Mighty Men tartan band; a green jumper with horizontal stripes; a sleeveless brown jacket; grey cargo pants and black boots.
