A one-day conference which aims to provide a Biblically informed understanding of current events in the Middle East and to encourage a Christian response to the events and the people of the region will be held in Jeffrey’s Bay, Eastern Cape on Saturday, October 31, 2015.

The conference speakers are South Africa Parliamentarian Cheryllyn Dudley who is an authoritative voice on the Middle East conflict; Jack Carstens, a former SA Trade Attaché in Tel Aviv, Israel and founder of David and Jonathan Foundation; and Kamil Kiroglu a former Muslim and founder of Egeiro Ministry which is co-hosting the event with AGS Doxa Deo, Jeffrey’s Bay.

“Unfortunately, during the past few years anti-Semitism has reached an all-time-high, making it even worse than the anti-Semitism of pre-Second World War Europe,” says Kiroglu.

Disturbing trend
“In South Africa there has also been a very disturbing increase of hatred, rejection and even persecution of Jewish people. The even more disturbing reality is that many Christians are daily bombarded with anti-Semitic teachings, propaganda and campaigns. The result is a very disturbing increase in hatred of Jewish people and the nation of Israel. However the question we Christians need to ask is whethe rall this hatred, delegitimisation and rejection of the nation of Israel and the Jewish people is Biblical. So one of our objectives with this conference is to analyse this issue with a Biblical understanding. We also want to deal with Islamic terrorism, ISIS, and the emerging theology and practice of Christian Palestinianism. We want to present a Biblical understanding of these issues and encourage a Biblical Christian response.”

The conference fee is R50 per person and includes coffee/tea and a light lunch.
